Inspired by Georgia

Hi there,

Today I wanted to do something different.  So, I tried copying a Georgia O’Keefe painting called “Red Flower.”  It’s really gorgeous.  I give myself lots of leeway on these things, knowing that they will always look like I did them, rather than the original artist.  Well, that’s the point, really.  Get inspired by Georgia and then play with the wonderful colors and shapes she uses.  Of course my shapes didn’t turn out quite like hers, but I like them enough to show them to you.

Here’s the watercolor, finished, or as finished as I want to be with it. I will probably collage over it and see what happens. I’ll keep you posted on that. The paper I used for this was Arches, the pad form, hot pressed, 100% cotton, 7” x 10” (18 x 26 cm). I’m going to leave it on the pad so it doesn’t curl up while if fully dries.

Here it is, tweaked with Picasa, to give it more color so I could make prints if I wanted to. I have a rather detailed business proposal to complete so it was great to clear my head with this. More Later.
